Hello Weekend!

It’s finally Friday!!

Which means I still have an a**load of stuff to do before tomorrow.

I was up bright and early this morning to start cleaning (I was supposed to do that yesterday, but I got distracted working on LOTD pics). 😀

When I logged in yesterday, more news – things are in flux for everyone lately, it seems.

Performance Art

The latest issue of Rez Magazine had an interesting article about a possible new ‘performance art’ venue opening in SL.

Yummy was the first one I know of to apply that term to the new direction that many dance performers seem to be heading.

I think it’s more appropriate than ‘burlesque’ or ‘neo-burlesque’ or ‘cabaret,’ and it seems to be gaining traction, given the number of times I’ve heard/seen it lately.

Performance art, to me, means that I will be able to see something someone has created from their soul – a piece with layers of meaning, some obvious, some not, some hidden even from the performance artist him/herself.

It’s entertainment, yes, but also so much more than that – a story, a feeling, evoking emotions (positive and/or negative) from the audience.

It will be interesting to see how this shift impacts current/future performers in SL.

There are a TON of events going on right now – as always seems to be the case in SL.

Collabor88 opens their current round today.

I’m never lucky enough to get in on the first day, so I’ll probably stop by sometime next week.

We ❤ Role Play is open now, and there are some gorgeous items I want to pick up, if I can ever find the time. 😛

FaMESHed is also open and celebrating their anniversary.

Join the group (it’s free), and pick up a TON of free anniversary gifties.

The Chapter 4 is open, also celebrating an anniversary, so stop by there for some free goodies as well.

This weekend also has a number of dance shows in addition to the regular weekend fare.

Fusion Dance Crew is putting on a show on Saturday, as are the Breezes Dancers.

I think the Waterfront Theater is also looking for acts for their variety show next month, so if you’re interested in that, check it out.

Sadly, I probably won’t have time to attend many (if any) shows this weekend, so if you go, take lots of pics and share them!

Enjoy your weekend, folks!

It’s Friday?

My week has been kind of crazy in RL, and it’s got me all discombobulated.

I keep thinking that today is Saturday.

My kids are out of school for Spring Break, so next week promises to be crazy as well, with everyone home and in my hair all week.  :/

I spent most of my time in SL yesterday sorting through inventory.

I finally decided to tackle my folder of shoes. 😛

I deleted several pairs, boxed up a ton, took pics of the ones I kept, and organized them in my ‘wardrobe’ system so I can search for them when I might need them for a routine.

I started to work on my ‘costume’ folder, but after about 30 minutes, it was clear that a sort of those will require at least several days of work.   😦

I did also have a chance to try out some outfits with my mesh body and figure out the appliers.

I understand how the appliers work, but once you ‘apply’ parts of an outfit, they remain until you apply something else.

You can turn them ‘off’ with the HUD, but they are still there.

Surely there should be a way to ‘clear’ the appliers?

Yes, there is!

There is (yet another) applier you can get for free that will ‘clean’ whatever you have previously applied to the mesh body.

That should make my life easier when I start trying out my rather large lingerie/burlesque outfit collection. 😀

Now, what would be REALLY AMAZING would be if someone would make an Omega applier that could clean/apply via a chat command.

Because then you could use your dance HUD to ‘chat’ a command to apply/remove appliers during a routine.

Now, THAT would be cool. 🙂

Friday starts the weekend of dance shows, so check the blog calendar and check out something new.

Happy Friday, people!

Weekend Entertainment

As usual, there are lots of dance shows on the weekend.  I don’t have enough time to go to all of them, so it’s always hard trying to decide which ones to go to.

This weekend, Elysium Cabaret has their weekly show at 6pm.  Then there’s Guerilla Burlesque at midnight.  I’ve been to a couple of shows, but the time makes it difficult for me to attend.  However, if you’re generally in-world at that time, it’s a ‘don’t miss’ show!

On Saturday, the Fusion Dance Crew is putting on a new show called ‘SeXXXalicious.’

FDC SeXXXalicious Show 3.28.2014

If you’re offended by nudity, don’t attend, but Felicia and her crew always put on a good show.

There’s also usually a show at Blue Moons at 2:30pm SLT on Saturday.  If you prefer evening entertainment, the Moulin Rouge Revue does a weekly show at 7pm.

If you’re up early on Sunday, catch the club IMAGE show at 6am.  If you’d rather sleep in, at 5pm you can catch the latest Winds of the Sahara Cabaret show (check out their new blog here, with some sneak peeks of acts) and KiKi’s House of Burlesque does a regular show on Sundays at 6pm.

Whew!  That’s a lot of dancing!

See you on the grid!
