News and Stuff

I almost didn’t get a chance to write a post today, I’ve been so busy.

I’m still recovering from my post-Thanksgiving tryptophan-induced coma, but I did manage to get a few things done today. 🙂

I took down all the Thanksgiving decorations and put up all the Christmas decorations, including the tree, so woohoo!  I don’t have a fireplace anymore, so I’m still debating where to hang our stockings.  The Christmas music playing may now commence. 😛

I am still working on learning the new Artiste HUD, but I will be blogging about my learning experiences on here shortly.  I think I’m driving Yummy slightly crazy with all my questions, but she hasn’t killed me yet, so I’m taking that as a good sign. 🙂

I have now finished filming two more videos for the dance experiment (a big thank you to Lotta and Baby, who graciously volunteered).  I will be getting those posted as soon as possible so that you can see them – they’re pretty amazing!  I can’t wait to see what the other participants have come up with – I’m blown away by the creativity of these dancers.

I hope you all had a terrific holiday (if you celebrated) and I hope you enjoyed the plethora of Black Friday sales – both in RL and SL.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Hard Work

Things have continued at their frenetic pace.  I am busily working away, but sadly, not on anything I can yet share on the blog.

Luckily for me, however, other people have been busy, so I can show you their hard work!

I’ve talked a few times about the new Artiste HUD I’m learning, but Yummy just posted a video about walking in a circle.  I’m not really sure why everyone wants to walk in a circle, but it certainly does look cool!  If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out here.  It also shows her new camera system, which I think is available on MarketPlace.

Many of you are familiar with Blue Moon Cabaret (if you’re not, check out one of their shows on Saturdays at 2:30pm SLT).  Nai has also been busy setting up a new website for them, including their latest running storyline involving, of course, owls.  (I’m not really sure if I was supposed to share the link or not yet . . .)

Meanwhile, I’ll keep trucking along, trying to meet all my other deadlines.  One project down, three more to go!!

SLGo Video

I came across this video on one of my feeds.  I chuckled while watching – oh, how I wish I had such sunny and beautiful places to hang out while I played SL!  See for yourself:

Let’s SLGo places!

We’ve been trying out SLGo for a while in our house and so far, it’s pretty awesome.

You can find more information about SLGo here.

Dance Challenge

A while ago on the blog, I asked the question of whether dance in SL is/should be considered art.  It led to an interesting conversation and sparked an idea.

I asked for volunteers in the dance community to create a dance – with each dancer creating their routine to the same song.  I thought it would be interesting to see the diversity (or if there is any) in the routines – to see how each dancer interprets the same song, but in (hopefully) visually different ways.

I have a list of volunteers and I have sent out the song selection.  After they are done creating their routines, they will be filmed and posted on the blog for everyone to see.  So in around 4 weeks from now, videos will start appearing.

Stay tuned!

Living with Lag

Someone mentioned this video on Twitter, and I had to check it out.

I found it hilarious.  Enjoy!

It’s Monday?

It’s Monday already?  What happened to my weekend?

Oh, that’s right – I spent it moving furniture.  -.-  On the upside, I have my office back and even though my garage looks like a war zone, I can work on it slowly and still keep up with my blogging!

I did manage to go to some new (to me) shows this weekend, so stay tuned for pics and info on those.

A few random notes:

  • I’m waiting for the Fantasy Fair to open – I’ve never been before, so is there something that is ‘must-see’?
  • SL11B is looking for exhibitors (find more info here) – with all the ‘new’ buzz around SL and virtual worlds in general, I’m interested to see how the celebration turns out.
  • I’m going to add a ‘Dance Videos’ page to the blog, to showcase the videos I find for SL dance.  So if you made a video and/or are in one, send me the link and I will add it.
  • I came across a neat video on Twitter from a shop in SL – check it out here:  The Secret Store.  I’ve never been there, but I think I’ll be checking it out!

That’s the morning quickie for Monday.  I’ve got more moving to do, but I’ll be back with another post shortly.

Enjoy your Monday!

Avatar Dreams

I came across a video of avatar creation in an online game called Black Desert.  I tried to visit their website before writing this post, but got a message saying their server was overloaded and I was redirected to their Facebook page.  This was the message on their Facebook page:

Small Update regarding our Website issues. It seems like that the Character Creation Video attracted a lot of attention, especially in the west. Our Video recently reached more than 100k Views, that’s even more than the Original Video posted by PearlAbyss (검은사막). Unfortunately, the hype is to much for our Website and we can’t handle the heavy traffic at the moment. Means all we can do is waiting until the hype is over. Our Forums are still Online, but our Frontpage will stay Offline for a while.

I can see why the video got so much attention – after watching the possibilities, I would love to have even half of the capabilities shown to tweak my avatar in SL.

It would be nice to be able to add some personal touches (like curls in your hair) without having to buy a whole new hairstyle.  Content creators may not like it, of course, but having more options is always good, right?

It’s Almost Friday!

I’m really looking forward to seeing ‘Paradise Lost’ this weekend!  And after seeing this video from the Drax Files about the production, I’m even more excited.

Take a look:

I can’t wait!!

Cheerleading with SpotOn

The SpotOn mover system is quickly becoming a favorite among dancers.  The flexibility it allows – using the designer, the group formation, or the Director’s HUD (or any combination thereof) makes for some spectacular performances.

Take a look at their newest video, showcasing what you can do with their system and some cool cheerleading moves!

I use the SpotOn and have found it to be one of the easier movement systems out there.  It doesn’t have much of a learning curve and is easy to use right out of the box.

Try it and amaze yourself!
