Starlite Theater Show

Last night I attended Starlite Theater’s last summer show.

The theater will be dark for a few months while some remodeling takes place.

I arrived about 30 minutes early for the show and was surprised at how quickly it filled up.

Starlite Vaudeville 1

With just a few minutes to showtime, there were 99 people on sim.

Unfortunately, with that many people, lag is inevitable.

The first number started about 15 minutes late as we waited for the lag to subside.

I tried to take pictures, but was afraid to cam around too much for fear of crashing.

I did manage to snap a few of the first number, a trio of short vaudeville numbers.

Starlite Vaudeville 2

There were still a few issues, as some of the costumes and body parts weren’t rezzing for everyone.

I saw the first two dances with no problems, but one of the dancers in the last bit of the trio remained stubbornly bald. 😦

Sadly, I don’t remember which songs they danced to, but the number was cute and well-choreographed, as usual.

There was a showgirl dancing on stage between each piece of the trio.

However, by the time her corset rezzed for me, the number was over.

I really enjoyed the short little numbers.

Starlite Vaudeville 3The vintage vaudeville-type acts are one of Izzy’s strong suits. 🙂

The last number of the trio was my favorite, with the dancers dressed in plaid hobo suits.

The dancers were troopers through the whole number, despite the lag issues.

Unfortunately, there was apparently another lag spike and another delay after the opening number.

After waiting another 15 minutes for things to settle, the show continued.

Sadly, I didn’t get any pics of the second number.

Starlite DeynaThe third act was a number by Deyna Broek to a song by the Pussycat Girls.

I’d tell you which song, but I can’t remember, darn it!

The lighting in the pic doesn’t do the number justice, as I didn’t spend my usual time fussing with the photos for fear I would crash and not get any.

I only had an hour free to attend the show.

As the next number hit the stage, RL was calling and I had to leave.

The few numbers I did see were well done, as usual.

After the theater reopens (in August, I believe), make sure you try to catch one of their shows.

Mark your calendars for Mondays at 7pm SLT.

Be sure to arrive early to allow time for everything to cache and rez!!

Starlite Show

Starlite1Last night I went to the Starlite show.

The show opened with a cute little number from Izzy to Anything Goes.

I love the sailor costumes on the guys.

It was a fast-paced number and the show kept moving right along.

The second number was new dancer, Julianne.

Starlite2She danced all over the boss’s office to Shake It Off.

A cute little routine.

The next routine was done by Paris, but unfortunately, my pictures didn’t come out. 😦

After Paris was Dee, who had shown me a preview of her routine.

After getting a sneak peek, I couldn’t wait to see the whole thing.

Starlite3Dee didn’t disappoint. 😀

I think this was my favorite act of the night.

It’s also my favorite picture from the show.

I love the simplicity and starkness of the set.

The song was lovely (I can’t remember the name of it offhand).

Very well done routine.

After Dee’s haunting number, Electra lightened things up a bit with her beach routine.

Starlite4The waves crashing over the rocks were a nice touch.

I’d love to have someplace warm like this to relax right about now!

After Electra was Deyna, dancing to Fields of Gold.

I love the song, but I’d never heard that version before.

The particle effects for this number were just lovely.

Starlite5There were delicate dandelions, beautiful butterflies, and pretty girls.

What more could you ask for?

At the end of each show, they do an audience participation dance.

I was lucky enough to be quick and got a spot on one of the movers.

Starlite6The dance was a mix of Meghan Trainor songs, and the last song was one of my favorites.

It was fun to be up on the stage with everyone one last time.

Devy did a great job with the audience routine.

Sweating Bullets

Last night was our New Year’s Eve show at Starlite Theater.

I was looking forward to this show for a variety of reasons, including that my hubs was going to dance with us in this one. 🙂

It was a terrific line-up with some really talented people.

Champagne1Deyna opened the show with a terrific number to ‘Champagne Life.’

I love the costumes in this routine, and the choreography was superb.

Hubs was snapping pics for me, but he got busy backstage and missed getting photos of the 50’s diner routines.

The show was even more packed than usual – we actually hit 100 avis on the sim!

GimmeGimmeGimmeDee did a sexy little number to Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Although it’s always nice to have that many people in the audience, it usually causes something to bork.

One of the acts was the unfortunate victim of the lag monster.

With a huge routine planned for the end of the show, I started to sweat.

GracefullyMy first routine went smoothly.

A big thank you to Barney and Rosalie, who danced in this one with me.

And a huge thank you to Sam, who built this amazing set.

After this, Devy and her gang hit the stage.

CelebrateDancing to Celebrate, Devy showed us all how to shake our groove thangs!

Our guest dancer was ToySoldier Thor, who graciously filled in for a last-minute cancellation.

I think he had fun. 😀

NYEI was really looking forward to this routine.

Done to ‘What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?’ by Ella Fitzgerald, I love the way this routine turned out.

Sam built yet another fantastic set and as a bonus, I got to dance with my favorite partner.

It was about this time that lag started to hit me, and I started to panic slightly, racing around like mad backstage trying to get everything set up for the finale.

ShadowsThankfully, I had time while another amazing routine by Isabelle Mavendorf was onstage.

This set, done to Avril Lavigne’s ‘I’m With You,’ was by far one of my favorite routines of the night.

I love the shadow dancers and the feel of the set.

Next up was the audience finale.

I had wanted to do a Rockette-style number for a while, and I thought it would be fun to involve the audience.

And, of course, I wanted to go big.

AudienceHere’s a shot of our lovely audience members patiently waiting while I am running around like a lunatic behind the curtain.

Corralling dancers is hard work!

Sam built another amazing set and we all had a blast dancing in Times Square to ’42nd Street’ and ‘New York, New York.’

KicklineWe ended the night with a ball drop, confetti, balloons, and fireworks.

Not too bad. 😀

Here’s to the end of a very successful 2014 at Starlite Theater.

Can’t wait to see what Sam has planned for next year!

So . . . Many . . . Shows . . .

I am one exhausted girl after yesterday.

There was dance show after dance show after dance show!

My day started off with another performance with the Starlite Dancers at Frank’s Elite for the Buble concert.  While there were no Linden sightings, it was still an amazing time!

BubleSamHere’s our boss Sam, playing the piano.

(He’s not really the boss, but calling him that keeps him happy!)

BubleChorusHere we are, all lined up and ready to go.

A huge thank you to Izzy for making us all look so good during this show.

She left muttering something about a bottle of rum, but I think she had fun.  🙂

Because I was busy with the Frank’s show, I couldn’t make the showing of the Christmas ExtravaDanza show.  But I will be seeing it today – there are a few acts I didn’t see the first time around, and I don’t want to miss those.

I did manage to make it to the La Oro Ladies and Gents show.  So many great acts – I didn’t get pics of them all, but I did manage to get a few to share with you.

LaOro_001Things started off with a cute little toy soldier number – I absolutely loved the puppet animation/pose at the end!

Truly some wonderful and unique choreography in this show.

LaOro_008What a lovely ballerina costume and set.

La Oro always has nice little touches, including special effects like the ones you see here.

LaOro_010To end the show, Santa’s elves showed up and put on a wonderful light display for everyone.

So Much Going On!

Then the ‘Christmas ExtravaDanza!’ is having another performance 1pm.

Fusion Dance Crew is having their Christmas show at 2pm.

The Polar Express is doing another fundraiser for Toys for Tots at 3pm.

The Waterfront Theater is also doing a performance of ‘The Full Monty’ at 3pm.

Then catch La Oro’s show at 5pm.

Dance Xcetera! is doing a show at 7pm, as is Moulin Rouge.

So a completely full day of dance shows, not to mention all the advent gifties you can collect right now!

Better drink some Red Bull or some coffee before you head out!

Happy Dancing!!

They’re Not a Myth!

Last night I got to perform with the Starlite dancers at Frank’s Elite Club.

They were doing a special Michael Bublé tribute concert.

The sim was packed – 103 at one point!

BubleConcert1A beautiful set and wonderful costumes.

Amazing choreography by the talented Isabelle Mavendorf.

BubleConcert2That’s Izzy right there.

The redhead.

You know what they say about gingers!

If you run into her, let her know what an awesome job she did.

BubleConcert3The set was beautiful, the costumes were gorgeous, and it was all very exciting.

And then – it happened.

A Linden showed up!

A real, live Linden.  I always thought they were a myth.

BubleConcert4Maybe he came to see Michael Bublé.

Or maybe he came to see the dancers.

Or maybe he came to see what the heck was going on with so many people in one place!

BubleConcert5Devy was her usual charming self and thanked him for coming, while the rest of us were still in shock.

Now I can say I’ve seen my first real Linden in the wild!

If you want to check out the show for yourself, there will be another show at Frank’s on Saturday at 12pm SLT.

Maybe there will be another Linden sighting.

Who knows?

Starlite Christmas Show

On Monday, Starlite Theater had its Christmas show.

There were lots of really cute acts (and I’m not saying that just because I dance there).

I wasn’t able to be in the show on Monday, due to that pesky RL bug we all seem to catch at one time or another.

However, I was able to sneak in and take a few pictures.  🙂

Izzy Mavendorf and her mad Russians started off the night.

Or was that drunk Russians?

Next up was a beautiful department store with a sticky-fingered thief.

Where’s a mall cop on a Segway when you need them?

Continuing with the drunk *ahem* I mean, Christmas theme, we visited an Ugly Sweater party in progress, wondering, “Who Spiked the Eggnog?”

Then Frosty turned up with his snowgirl posse and showed everyone how it’s done.

Who knew Frosty could twerk?

StarlitePervySantaAnd after Frosty’s twerking, I don’t think anyone was surprised to see Pervy Santa show up.

Leave it to Devy to dance around in her unmentionables and put on a sexy show for Butt Crack Santa.  😛

There were a few other routines I missed, but it was a great show and everyone had a terrific time.

You can catch the Starlite Dancers onstage every other Monday at 7pm SLT.  The next show is 12/29/2014.  Enjoy!

Never a Dull Moment

StarliteVegasDancersThe last few days have been hectic, both in SL and RL.  Of course, there was the DQ Dance festival this weekend, which I was a part of.  Although it was a ton of fun to participate and to see all the amazing creativity from other troupes, it was a long weekend.

Yesterday I was very busy in RL.  I finally returned home and logged in to watch the Starlite Dancers at their Michael Buble tribute show.  (Full disclosure:  I am dancer at the Starlite Theater.)  Isabelle Mavendorf created some amazing choreography and it was a treat to watch the Vegas showgirls in their beautiful costumes.

I also managed to find some time to do a few hunts here and there.  I am currently doing MadPea’s Blood Letters hunt (today is Day 18), and I came across a really cool hunt/game called the Mine Shaft Hunt.  You mine for rocks and other things, which you can use to get/find treasure keys to open the treasure boxes in all the stores.  I still haven’t figured out how to do the ‘valuations’ portion of the hunt, but I’m working on it.

I also saw yesterday on my Twitter feed that the Peace On Earth hunt will take place this year.  The long-time organizer has moved on, but someone has stepped in – which I am grateful for, because I look forward to the POE hunt every year.  There’s usually a ton of cool stuff from very talented designers, and it’s all free.  Can’t beat that, right?

As usual, it’s never a dull moment!
