It’s only Tuesday?

*Sigh*

This week is taking forever already.

A few tidbits for you:

⇒  What’s the meanest thing someone’s ever said to you on social media?  Strawberry Singh’s Monday Meme is all about the haters.

I recently came across this image and I think it sums things up pretty well:

⇒  The latest Drax Files was about my favorite SL artist, Whiskey Monday.

⇒  Canary Beck wrote a post about a style make-over guide for men in SL.

One of the first things she says is you need at least $8,740L to complete this look.

Say what?!

Now, I appreciate the post, because there are lots of guys who don’t have a clue where to start.

And it’s a ‘ground-up’ build, including skin/shape, etc.

But $8000L?

That seems expensive.

Or is it just me?

⇒  Ciaran Laval reported that Premium Members (that’s me, yay!) will now be able to receive 50 offline IM’s, rather than the previous 25 limit.

Now, my offlines go to email, so it probably won’t be as big a deal to me as other members, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

Something useful to go along with your premium membership!

⇒  Crossing my fingers that LL and OnLive will work something out and do a package deal (as Jo Yardley suggested) and bundle premium membership with an SLGo subscription.

Now THAT I would find useful!

⇒  Caitlin Tobias wrote a post about her recent issues using the official SL viewer.

Clothes disappearing, inventory lost (the WHOLE thing, not just certain items!), etc.

She can’t use Firestorm (which I looooooovvveeee), so she ended up trying Singularity and then the Alchemy viewer (which I’ve never heard of before).

So I got to wondering – what viewer do you use, and why?

Is there one you’ve tried and absolutely hated and why?

Tuesday Tidbits

I’ve been a bit busy in RL, so I’m trying to catch up on all my reading.

Some interesting tidbits I’ve come across in the last couple of days:

→LL is considering removal of the ‘Restore to Last Position’ function.

Firestorm currently allows this, but not with no-copy items.

This is to keep people from accidentally losing valuable no-copy items.

However, this function is used by a lot of people (including myself!) and I would hate to see it disappear.

FS feels the same and is asking for your help.

Go to their website and leave a comment about how and why you use this feature.

Many members of the dance community have already commented, but every little bit helps!

If they can provide enough use-cases, LL might rethink removing the function.

→I follow New World Notes, and one of their writers posted an article a while ago about watching SL creators work using live-stream service Twitch.

It seems some of these creators have had their accounts suspended for streaming SL, because Twitch does not “permit Adults-Only rated games and games where nudity is the core focus, feature, or goal.”

Arguments about whether SL is a game or not aside, when the hell did nudity become the ‘core focus, feature, or goal’ of SL?

It’s certainly not the goal of my SL.

As someone pointed out in the comments, Twitch has no problem with people streaming violent video games like GTA, but SL is a no-no?

Idiots.

So, if you’re looking for a streaming service, Hitbox (Twitch’s main competitor) will happily oblige. 😀

→On the heels of this information, I came across Strawberry Singh’s Monday Meme (again, late, grrr).

She is asking everyone to make a short video and share your perception of Second Life.

Perhaps if there are as many positive videos about SL as there are trolling videos, people’s perceptions would change.

(I’m not sure this will make any difference, people being people, but it can’t hurt, right?)

→Facebook is at it again.

They have (finally!) released some updated information about their names policy.

And they have once again stated that profiles using ‘game character’ names (a category which your SL avatar name falls under) are NOT allowed.

You can create a Page for your character, but not a profile.

So, expect some more rounds of account deletions.

Honestly, I still don’t understand why anyone uses Facebook.

There are so many other options, including ASN, which was designed specifically for avatars.

Do yourself a favor and delete your Facebook account.

You won’t miss it.

I promise. 😀

Out of Sync

Yesterday was an odd day for me.

It was a day of firsts – first day of the week, first day of practice, and, as I discovered this morning, the first day I’ve ever forgotten to log out of SL before going to bed.

I was busy taking photos yesterday (which I think turned out pretty well) and then life happened – dinner, cleaning, getting kids to bed, etc.

I often leave my computer on overnight, so I didn’t give it a thought when I shut off the office light.

I came back in this morning to start writing and realized I had forgotten to log off before dinner.

Odd.

And I’m having one of those days where I feel out of sync with everything.

So, while I hit the ‘refresh’ button, feel free to head over to my Flickr and check it out.

I’m pretty proud of my LOTD photo from yesterday, which just happens to fit in with Strawberry Singh’s Monday Meme (why do I never seem to get them until Tuesday?).

Her meme yesterday was to transform your avatar so that no one would recognize you.

I think I accomplished that with my pic.  😀
