I’m not generally a fan of creepy and spooky, but this Halloween event sounds like a lot of fun!
I’ll be checking it out soon. 🙂

If you like taking photos, this hunt is for you! Lots of poses and props for only $5L each. 🙂
Yesterday, while wandering around looking for good photography locations, I landed at LEA29.
Titled ‘Watercolors in the Rain,’ the sim is an homage to the book of the same name by David Lavigne.
According to the information at the landing point, the team of artists worked closely with Mr. Lavigne in designing the sim.
The sim has specific areas that are designed to look like places described in the novel, denoted by the presence of ‘Storybook Trees.’
As a literature fan, I was intrigued.
I’ve not read the novel, but I was curious and decided to have a peek.
At the beginning of the walk-through, I discovered there was a hunt – find all the white ravens in the various areas.
A hunt AND photographs?
Yes, please. 😀
So while I wandered around taking photos of the gorgeously decorated sim, I was also busy hunting ravens.
The first area is decorated as a small historical town.
There are a lot of details and it creates a wonderful atmosphere.
Flying is not enabled, so you have to meander through the town.
After resting my feet a bit at the sidewalk cafe, I wandered on.
I found a gorgeous pavilion and a cute little pie stand.
Just the thing for a cool fall afternoon – a slice of pie and something warm to drink. 🙂
After all, what’s a town without a bookstore?
After seeing all the sights (and finding all the ravens), I walked up the trail to the next section, the vacant mountaintop saloon.
As you wander up the hill, the landscape changes from crisp autumn to winter, with snow drifts appearing as you rise higher.
After finishing this section, you take the hot air balloon ride to the next area.
I’ve never ridden in a hot air balloon in SL before, so it was a fun experience.
You are deposited at the next area, Aubrey’s Mansion.
The exterior of the mansion includes a lovely garden with a beautiful courtyard.
I love how mesh statues can add to the realism of decorations, but boy howdy, do they give me a fright sometimes!
After searching through the house and finding all the ravens, I was directed back outside.
A teleporter takes you to the next area – Angel’s Grove.
All the areas are really beautifully done, but Angel’s Grove was my favorite.
A word game!
I spent a few minutes trying my skills at unscrambling words, and then decided I’d better get on with the hunt.
Next up on the travel agenda was the Dark Forest.
I was a bit taken aback when I landed, as it was indeed a Dark Forest.
Thankfully, I didn’t have to spend too much time in it.
You enter a castle and after a long trek up some steep stairs, there is a lovely little winter area, complete with a carousel, a skating rink, and a cozy little seating area with a roaring fire.
I wandered through the rest of the areas, finally reaching the end.
I found all the ravens but one, and some of the gifts you receive look quite interesting. 🙂
It’s worth the walking just to see the beautiful landscaping and decorating.
I’m not sure how long the installation will be up, so stop by before it disappears.
I had been in SL for about 4 years before I ever went on a hunt.
It was fun collecting items for free (or close to it) – a quick way to score some fabulous items.
I don’t do them much anymore, since I’m always trying to watch my inventory count. 🙂
However, I love it when a hunt (or event) has a gallery of items somewhere online.
I can browse the items without fighting through a laggy sim and decide if I want any of them.
Ok, it’s usually more like, “how many can I afford to buy before I start feeling guilty,” but still. 😀
So when I saw a couple of posts about the Wayward Hunt, I had to go check it out.
I headed over to their website and found a gallery of pics with the prizes.
I picked up several items from the hunt, including several different poses, because, much like shoes, you can never have too many poses!
One of the items I picked up was this awesome pose prop from Exposeur.
Called “Girl at the Window,” it’s a photo prop with 8 built-in poses.
I love it, and I know I’ll be using it again and again.
I also picked up this amazing jewelry set from League.
The necklace and earrings are fabulous.
I poked around in my inventory for something to wear and found this outfit from Pure Poison.
Add one of my favorite Truth hairstyles and done. 🙂
Last, but not least, SHOES!
Called Mumbai, I love, love, love them. 🙂
There are tons of items in the hunt, including home and decor as well as clothing.
I will be heading back out in the next few days to pick up a few more things.
I can always use decor items for sets – especially when they’re free!!
And did I mention – SHOES!!!
I have been waiting eagerly for the next game/hunt from MadPea.
I did their Blood Letters hunt (and got creeped out a few times, I must admit). But I thoroughly enjoyed the game – regardless of the prizes. (There were some really awesome ones, however!)
This month, I’ve been doing their Scrumptious Sweets hunt and loving it.
Everything is so darn cute!
I was even inspired to create a dance using one of the gifts from it.
Today I got a notice that a new game/hunt is coming in Feb/March.
You buy a HUD for $300L and then work to follow the clues and solve the mystery.
The notice does say the hunt is rated moderate and will have some sexual content.
*Grabs her sleuthing gear and heads out the door*
Things seem to be moving at light speed lately.
As my grandpa would have said, “I’m busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest!”
The holiday season is upon us, and that means tons of new events and happenings, both RL and SL.
With the advent of the holidays, many stores around SL will be having Advent Calendars with daily goodies (see what I did there?). One of those is Abranimations – there is a spot with a daily gift each day. Some of it is kind of quirky (I don’t think I’ve ever used my penguin avatar), but sometimes I get lucky and the prize is a dance animation. 🙂 So be sure to check them out during December. There is also a daily dance offered at a discount (a steal at L$45 per animation).
Yummy’s Artiste HUD (which I am still trying to learn) seems to be taking off as well. She now has a website for owners of the HUD, to be used a repository of knowledge. It should be interesting! I’m excited to see what others create with it, given the huge amount of options it provides. The learning curve is steeper than other products, but from what I’ve seen so far, well worth the effort.
MadPea’s Blood Letters Hunt is now over, and December 1st starts their ‘Scrumptious Sweets’ hunt. It should be a nice change from all the blood and gore of the Blood Letters hunt (which I enjoyed immensely) and the HUD for the Sweets hunt is only $100L.
I finally had a chance to make it to the Geeks & Nerds Fair – as a lifelong geek/nerd myself, I loved it. So much to see! 🙂
I couldn’t resist the picture collage of Sheldon sayings (I told you I was a nerd!). There was a store named Buttery Toast. Not sure what they sell, but I love the name! I also just had to have the SLink fingernail appliers that were the StarWars characters. So cute!
In a strange twist, I found a ton of items I would love to give my geeky family and friends in RL. So now I have to see if I can locate some of these nerdy items on Amazon. Although I will say I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many Police Boxes in one place before. (I spent so much I had to replenish my supply of L$ – shhh, don’t tell my hubby!)
While I was there, I was reminded of something I often think about when attending large events like the fair. Store owners/creators/vendors – please, please, please include a subscribo in your booth if you can! I see a TON of cool shops and things, but I will never remember all of them. If you have a subscribo, I can hit it, and bam! I’m updated on your goings-on and such. I would love to join everyone’s group, but alas, there is that stinky 42 group limit.
Which brings me to another idea, if someone knows how to get the attention of the powers-that-be. LL asked not too long ago what people wanted for the holidays. Now, I’m sure they were thinking along the lines of a giftie, which is fine. BUT. Sam, the owner of the Starlite theater, had a GENIUS idea. (I have no idea whether it would actually even be possible, but if it was, it would warm the cockles of even the Grinch’s cold heart!) People already pay for a premium membership. But what if another option for premium members (or anyone, really), was to pay an extra say $5 a month, for the ability to have an additional, say, 20 groups? Would you pay it? I would. Something to think about! 😛
And just because I was in a silly mood at the fair (gettin’ my geek on), here’s a little bonus shot of me shooting down all those pesky aliens!
What does that mean? Only 25 more shopping days left until Christmas, folks! If you haven’t started yet, you’d better get busy.
Things are gearing up to get even busier in SL as well.
The December round of the The Arcade is about to open (rumor has it there are some amazing free gifties under the tree at the Arcade), so you’d better be ready to get your gacha on!
When I was reading through my feed, I came across several posts about prizes in the Peace on Earth hunt this year – which starts tomorrow. I love the POE hunt, so I can’t wait to get started!
Also, there have been a few new releases – KaTink has released a new set of poses (Alexxa) and Vista has released a new AO (Mimi), so be sure to check those out.
Don’t forget to cap off your weekend by catching a few dance shows – KiKi’s House of Burlesque and Winds of the Sahara are always two good choices. 🙂
Enjoy the last day of November – I’m off to work on my Christmas cards!
I miss a few days because I’m busy with projects, and the blogosphere explodes with tons of news and happenings!
Here are some tidbits I found surfing about today:
The Arcade is opening its December round soon. It’s usually a lag-fest, because it’s such a popular event. So – if you’d prefer to be an ‘early bird,’ you can try to purchase one of their early access passes. They are selling 20 of them, starting today at 5pm SLT. Check out the link here if you want more information. It’s a cool idea, and one that will be popular. I know lots of people who would be willing to pay a bit extra to get in early and/or get in before the mad rush!
Serendipitously, as I was reading about the Arcade, and groaning internally about the horrible lag that always accompanies it, I came across another blogger’s thoughts about the whole ‘gacha’ scene in SL. An interesting read on how gachas started and how they how changed. Personally, I only play if it’s something I would just outright buy in the first place. To me, some of the gacha vendors are like that impulse section at the cashier’s stand. You end up with buys that you later regret. And I too, have grown weary of the gachas where you only get pieces and parts of an outfit. I’d rather just pay the L$ and get the one I want. But that’s me. 🙂
I finished the MadPea Blood Letters Hunt (it’s still running until November 30 – if you don’t mind blood/gore and more than a bit of adult content, it was a ton of fun). I made it to the prize room, after being lost in a maze for about half an hour. But I did it – it was even more fun after finding out that a friend was doing the hunt as well, so we teamed up to finish the last day. I’ve never done a hunt like this one before, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. MadPea is selling some mementos from the hunt, including the book set and the dead bodies, if you’re interested. And I saw today that they will have a new hunt beginning on December 1. This one is called ‘Scrumptious Sweets‘ so I’m hoping it will be refreshing change from all the detective work of this last hunt!
And the last piece of news – Sinse has released a new ‘Only Girl’ AO that comes with 5 dances. Stop by and check it out – I’m always on the lookout for goods sits, stands, and walks, and AO’s are terrific source for those.
Not that kind of quickie! Today is a busy day for me, but I had a few tidbits I wanted to pass along.
I haven’t even had time to do today’s clue for the Blood Letters hunt – I’d better get moving!
I’m always in search of good items to use in sets. I came across a hunt called November Nights. It’s a hunt for full perm items! Yay full perm! Each item you find is only $10L – and I’ve found some amazing ‘new-to-me’ stores that I will definitely be returning to. See here for the information and list of participating creators. It runs from now until Nov. 30, so you have plenty of time to find some great items!
If you haven’t stopped by yet, the new round of Collabor88 opened yesterday. I haven’t made in it yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I also stopped by the Fantasy Gacha Faire yesterday and picked a couple of cool items. I was lucky enough to get 2 rare items!! Woot!
I also spent some time exploring the Cirque de Seraphim event yesterday. It takes up two sims and is a circus-themed event with part of the proceeds going to the ASCPA. So I got lots of cool circus-y stuff and I got to help out needy animals – win win!
Enjoy your Sunday!
After watching my inventory balloon from hunts and gachas, I decided I’d stop doing them.
So then, of course, along comes the latest MadPea Hunt – Blood Letters. It’s a hunt where you play a private eye and have to solve a string of murders. Since I am an ID channel addict and forever watching true crime shows, I HAD to particpate. 😛
I have to say, it something I look forward to doing every day. From Nov 1 through Nov 25, there is a new clue (and a new prize) each day. It’s an ‘adult’ hunt, so some of the prizes are a little risqué, to say the least. But I have thoroughly enjoyed logging in every day to get the new clue and find the daily prize. At the end of the hunt, for those who solve the mystery, there are an additional 25 prizes from all the participating businesses.
If you enjoy puzzles, or mysteries, or MadPea hunts, join in! It’s a lot of fun, even though it can be frustrating at times. Find the information and where to start here. It is a tad expensive, as the HUD you need is $400L. However, the number and quality of prizes makes it worth the expense.
So far, my favorite prize has been the Dagger Necklace from Maxi Gossamer, although I’m sure I’ll find a use for the crawls in the Dutchie AO. Find a listing of the prizes here.
