LEA22 – Funky Junk

Whenever I’m looking for a good place to take photographs, I know I can count on the LEA sims.

This trip I ended up at LEA22 – Funky Junk.  The description says it’s still under construction, but there is a ton to see and explore.

LEA 22 1The sim is full of art pieces and vignettes made of recycled junk.  I was having so much fun exploring that I was snapping pics like mad. Of course, I couldn’t resist playing around a bit with some of the great filters in Firestorm.

LEA 22 2I was a little lost and confused at first, but still having a blast wandering around and looking at everything.  (I always forget to read the land description until after I’ve wandered around a bit – or a lot!)

LEA 22 3I loved these little worker ants – heading down into the whirlpool of discarded junk, and then trundling back up the hill to their home.

LEA 22 4It really does make you stop and think about how much junk we humans through away (into landfills, the ocean, etc.) every day.

LEA 22 5There were some whimsical vignettes placed here and there around the sim.  I’m not quite sure what species these birds (?) are, but their babies are cute as the dickens. 😛

LEA 22 6This scene struck me as particularly funny and poignant. The little worker is making trees out of the trash lumber, and then painting it green to make the trees you see in the background.

Ironic, yes?

LEA 22 7As I was pondering the irony of the Forestry Department scene, I stumbled into this forest of book trees.

The sim was amazing and chock full of things to see and do.  The land description also says to wear your headset and click stuff (something I neglected to do).

Head on over and try it out!  Or, if you don’t have much time in-world, you can visit the Funky Junk blog and see what it’s all about.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside – LOTD #237

LOTD 237
Sighing with content,

she relaxed on the couch, warm

and cozy and safe.

I love this furniture set from Potomac Signature Homes.  So cozy and inviting, it reminds me of what you’d find in a ski lodge or log cabin.

Perfect for relaxing on those long winter nights.  You can find this fabulous set at the Winter Showcase, running now until December 14.

There is a shopping village and merchants have designated items where the proceeds benefit Team Diabetes of SL.

So you can decorate your SL home and help out others at the same time.  Win-win!

The furniture set includes the sofa, two chairs, rug, two lamps, an end table, and the coffee table.  Included is a rez box with everything neatly packed for easy placement.

The Christmas tree and the poinsettia decor on the wall are also from the Windlight Showcase shopping village.

The Christmas tree is from The House of Avro and the poinsettias are from Park Place Home Decor.

I’m a big fan of Park Place Home Decor – her items are always well-made and a great addition to any SL home.

The pinecone angels are from *Funky Junk* and are items I dug out of inventory.  (I thought the coffee table needed a little ‘something’!)

The sofa comes with poses for singles and couples, including the reclining pose you see here.

Stop by the Winter Showcase and Winter Art Show and have a wander around the winter wonderland.

Lots of cool art to see, and some fantastic shopping!

Another dark and twisted LOTD post. 😛

I love this French Maid costume from Livid.

It comes with the dress, feather duster, collar, headband, shoes, stockings – all of it.

I happened to be wearing this hair from D!va when I tried on the costume, and I thought it was perfect.

While out shopping for FLF, I happened upon this cute gothic Halloween decor set from Funky Junk.

I know I will get a lot of use out of these items.

The doll skin tattoo I picked up at the current round of Genre – I can’t believe I didn’t have one of these before!

I found the bloody body under the rug hiding in my inventory. 😀

I’m not sure if I’m just getting into the Halloween spirit, or if the Twisted Hunt has rubbed off on me.

Dark is fun, but I think I’m ready for something a little lighter next time.

We shall see. 😛

LOTD #173 – Lilacs and Talcum

LOTD 173

She looked around, the sense of nostalgia almost overwhelming.

She’d spent many a happy hour here as a child.

Running her fingers lightly across the sideboard, she picked up the blanket.

It still smelled of lilacs and talcum, like her grandmother.

I’ve decided I need to go yard-sale shopping more often. 😀

I saw a notice on Plurk that someone was having a yard sale, and I couldn’t resist going to pick up a few things.

Reasonably priced, and I justified the ‘no-copy’ items because, though I can’t use them in a performance, I can most certainly use them in a photo!

So many cute vintage things, and this isn’t even all of them!

I like to visit sims for photoshoots, but sometimes I can’t find anything that suits the feel/vibe I want.

In those situations, I build my own scene.

As I was browsing the yard sale, I could see the scene coming together in my head.

And I’m happy to say that it turned out pretty close to what I wanted. 😛

The little writing shed from Funky Junk is a $50L Friday find from a previous week- and a steal!

It’s such a cute little shed, I know I’ll get tons of use out of it.

I had a lot of fun decorating up the inside with various pieces and parts.

When I saw this dress at Shiny Shabby, I just had to have it.

I saw it on early access day, but it wasn’t available for purchase yet.

So I went back and braved the lag – I love the lacy vintage look of it.

The Exile hair is their offering at this round of Collabor88.

I love the length and the sideswept bangs – so pretty!

The ring is another gem from Maxi Gossamer’s Look Book for Mix this month.

There’s so much stuff in there, I’m still opening boxes. 😀

And I’m still in love with Essenz shoes.

I’ve had these for a while, but they are gorgeous.

I still have some boxes to open, because I went to the 50% off anniversary sale.

It runs through July 26th, so if you haven’t stopped by Essenz yet, you should.

Shoe heaven awaits!
