On Saturday I attended the premiere performance of ExtravaDanza’s newest show, “Dance Macabre.”

I was busily snapping pics, enjoying the show.
After the first act, I was camming around during the second act to try and get some close up pics.
I had noticed my stats monitor going into the red, but I assumed it was just because of me trying to get a good pic.
I hit ‘save’ and BAM.
I crashed.
Annoyed doesn’t even begin to describe it. 😦

I spent the next five minutes unsuccessfully trying to log back in.
I finally made it in-world, figured I had missed the second number, and hoped I could get back to the sim for the third.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that the performance had apparently been griefed, causing a large portion of the audience (me included) to crash.
While I was not glad to learn of the griefers, I was happy to know it wasn’t my computer.
The performance was postponed for a couple of hours to give everyone time to get settled again, so I headed back for the delayed performance.
I didn’t grab any pictures of the audience seating, but it was certainly original. 😀

There were tombstones to sit on and several ‘hangin’ trees’ that posed your avatar as if you had been hung.
I was expecting to ride around the sim on some conveyance (a hearse?) as with previous shows, but this time the stage (and the audience) were stationary.
I’m not a huge fan of clowns in general (or horror stories, for that matter).
However, Jilley did an amazing job of pulling off a routine with some truly frightening looking clowns.
If you are already scared of clowns, this act was the stuff of nightmares. 😛
After Jilley and her minions cleared the stage, Sebastain took to the stage.
Yesterday I knew the name of the song he danced to, but I’ve slept since then, so I can’t remember. 😦
I thought there was a nice variety of acts for a Halloween show.
Not every act was skeletons and witches and the like.
There were some really spectacular set builds as well.
After Sebastain’s routine, it was time for a change of pace.
The set was the exterior of an old house, covered with vines, a large porch – you get the idea.
This routine was shades of a horror film, with the unsuspecting victim entering the house, while the audience knows it won’t end well.
I thought there was some very creative choreography in this act.
And, just like that, it was time for the finale of the show.
Again, I’m not a huge fan of Halloween – I’ve actually never seen Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas.’
(Side note – I had to google it to find the name of the movie.) 😀
However, I knew after seeing the opening model of Jack Skellington that this routine would be over the top.
Filled with multiple set changes, tons of particle effects, and a whole posse of dancers, it was an explosion of Halloween.
The act started out with Jack and his set of scary sidekicks.
Lots of lights and effects, as you can see.
Another set change and now it’s Jack dancing as a large burlap covered ghost (I apologize if it’s not Jack, as I said, I’ve not seen the movie).
There were so many things going on at once, it was hard to know where to look.
More particles, dancing trees, and Santa in the cauldron. 😀
If you missed the premiere performance, don’t worry.
There will be two more performances of “Dance Macabre” – on October 30 at 9pm SLT and again on November 1 at 12pm SLT.
