Happy and Sad

I was gone from SL yesterday to attend a track meet for one of my kids.

Their team did amazingly well (my child took first in every event they competed in! Proud mama here!), despite the cool and windy conditions.

Finished up just as the lightning started, so yay! for that.

Had a heckuva hail storm here last night, so we had a very eventful evening.

This morning I wake up to the sad news that SLGo is being discontinued as of April 30, 2015.

Bummer.

I’ve been using SLGo for several months, and though there were things about it I didn’t love, it was amazing to be able to attend shows or whatever on my tablet rather than having to lug out my laptop or be tethered to my desk.

It’s one of those announcements that makes you feel as if the rug has been pulled out from under you.

OnLive had just opened up the SLGo Island in SL recently, added the feature of being able to pay your subscription with L$, added a mobile option using Firestorm, and now *POOF* – it’s all gone.

On the bright side, that’s $10 a month I can now put towards something else. :/

Someone has started a petition to keep SLGo alive, though I don’t see that happening.

Sony acquired OnLive and they are not interested in keeping the service going.

There was some happy news as well – the Maitreya Lara body has been updated.

Yay!

They made improvements to the HUD, now allowing you slots to save some alpha configurations as presets so you don’t have to fiddle with the alphas every time you wear a different outfit.

I was curious to see if they would add that feature once SLink came out with it for their Physique body.

I’m so glad they did – that and the other improvements will make me love the mesh body even more. 🙂

I may even try out one of the Lelutka mesh heads that just came out – made specifically to go with the Lara body.

I’m not a huge mesh head fan (at all!), and I still think they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to making them look different from each other.

However, I’m curious how they will work in photos.

Enjoy your (holiday) weekend, everyone!
